Mama Travels: Barcelona

Barcelona

Mama at Park Guell

Coming in from Prague, I can already feel the city energy in Barcelona and I am super excited to be united with 10 of my girls who are flying from all over the world to be together on our annual girls’ trip to celebrate birthdays. We take our birthdays seriously and friendship even more. Despite of our crazy life with family, work, and schedule we make a time to be with each other. We even have a preggo among us, we are that hard core!

Hotel Omm

Casa Batilo

Pedrera

I start to recognize Gaudi’s work as soon as we enter the city. Our hotel Omm, which is our home for next few days, is located right by the Casa Batilo and Pedrara. Both buildings are Gaudi’s famous work. It’s so cool that these amazing works of art/buildings are integrated into the heart of city. We visit Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Cathedral, Casa Batilo, and Pedrera. We visit the Museo Picasso and walk up and down the Rambla.

After sightseeing we were excited to unite and hit up Cal Pep, the unpretentious tapas restaurant (most restaurants are pretty chill and unpretentious in Barcelona) where it was hard for us to get a reservation since we are a small party of 10! They presented us with bread paired with tomatoes, clams, cured meats, and prawns. Basically the best tapas any of us has ever had. We ate tapas for the next three days at Tapas 24, Catalina, Botafumeiro, and others that I can’t remember. Definitively Cal Pep and Tapas 24 were my fave.

Like Tapas, Barcelona seems to have a little bit of everything. The beach life, night life that’s bit like Miami, bar culture, cultural sites, and great shopping. People are super friendly and happy. It’s a great city and I would love to come back!
