NYFW(Fall12): Rebecca Taylor
This is the skinny on the Rebecca Taylor show: It’s usually packed, and mostly with beautiful girls wearing the most beautiful dresses. The front row is well represented and consists of girls from The Hills, 90210, and other pretty young stars. This year was no different in that regard: Olivia Palermo, Zoe Kravitz, and Louise Roe were front and center. There were also the usual pretty fashion bloggers: Emily from CupcakesandCashmere.com, Kelly from theGlamourai.com, and Leandra from Manrepeller.com were Tweeting every look with comments. I was expecting the usual pretties and sparklies, but when the show started I was pleasantly surprised that the direction was much more cool girl than pretty girl. It’s like if the usual Rebecca Taylor girl started to date a rocker from the Lower East Side. The usual craftsmanship and delicate fabric choices are all there, but it’s bit gritty, grungy, and tousled.
My favorite pieces are the loose silk leggings with lace inserts and the maxi floral dress with geometric inserts. This downtown mama is looking forward to getting them all ASAP!
