DIY Super Hero: Ironman

Hostile take over from the Wholefoodsbot

{Materials: 1 Whole Food Bag, Scotch Tape, Scissor, Crayons}
My toddler has inherited my husband’s gene of permanently gluing his bum bum to the couch; and my gene of arts & crafts which equals: a deadly arts & crafts couch potato. Everyday I am hit with, “Hey mom, I want to make something!” This opens a serious case of creative worms…and before I know it, we’ve turned the house upside down, and the entire day gone to cutting and gluing. Seriously…we spend HOURS.

My son is also the epitome of a “boy”. As oxygen is to human beings….super heros are to my Odin. His imagination conjures up every action hero accoutrement possible including Batarangs (bat-shaped boomerang), blades, knives, shields, masks, and many many other things that I am not used to making. Ever. But not so secretly I revel in our arts & crafts time! Him…happy with whatever “magical” knick knack weapon we’ve designed…me…rewarded by the amazing post-product pictures. Plus,we make almost everything with garbage..um..I mean with recycled goods.

The other day, I came home and a miniature Hannibal Lecter (“Silence of Lamb” reference) greeted me at the door. It was his rendition of a Batman mask and costume. I liked his ambition of making the mask as well as an entire costume…which by the way was a piece of paper wrapped around his body with lots of tape. Odin doesn’t quite understand that certain things don’t translate to 3D from 2D. But, hey, maybe they do when “impossible” isn’t part of your vocab…yet. I just love that for him everything is possible.
